Karen Reddington-Hughes Commits to Re-Election as State Representative for Connecticut’s 66th District

February 19, 2026

Earlier this month, at a small event at the Litchfield Distillery, State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes made clear her commitment to be re-elected as the State Representative for Connecticut’s 66th District.  First elected in November of 2022, she is currently serving in her 2nd term as a legislator for the state. She is also in her 4th term as a Selectman for the town of Woodbury.

The event brought together supporters from across the district, including Bethlehem, Litchfield, Morris, Warren and Woodbury.  Reddington-Hughes welcomed about 70 guests and thanked them for their continued support and invited individuals from each town to share their testimony of working with their State Rep.  Jared McCool, of Steadfast Farms in Bethlehem expressed his appreciation for the efforts Reddington-Hughes provided to help get a grant for his farm and other farm-friendly legislation.  Greg LaCava, 1st Selectman of Warren mentioned how available and responsive she has been with his concerns regarding legislation related to wake boats on Lake Waramaug. Tom Weik , 1st Selectman of Morris talked about  her efforts to protect Bantam lake from invasive  grasses. Former 1st Selectman of Woodbury, Barbara Perkinson talked about how she provided timely updates and information from the Capitol. From Litchfield, former State Representative David T Wilson offered some insight into the work Karen was involved with during the school merger of WAMAGO and Litchfield schools to create Region 20.

State Senator Eric Berthel and Representative Joe Piscopo let the crowd know how respected and well liked she is in the Capitol. They also talked about how diligent and dedicated she is in her work at the Capitol, doing research on bills, debating legislation and helping residents provide testimony at hearing.  Reddington-Hughes serves on the committees for Education, Public Health and Environment.

Representative Reddington-Hughes closed the evening with a short summary of her past 3 years of service saying, “I have dedicated myself to serving our community with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to common sense conservative values”.  Whether it was standing up for our towns at the Capitol, defending our local decision-making from burdensome state mandates, or working to protect individual freedoms, she said her focus has always been on what matters most to the families within the district. She emphasized  she has listened to their concerns, advocated for practical solutions, and worked tirelessly to ensure that Hartford hears the voices of our district.

During her time in office, she has championed legislation that supports small businesses, strengthens our schools, and preserves the unique character of our towns. She has fought against intrusive policies that threaten our way of life and have consistently pushed for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and government accountability. Her record reflects a deep belief that Connecticut’s future depends on empowering local communities and respecting the values that make our state great.
